A pause point in proceedings to say thanks for reading/subscribing!
I love writing these posts, and it’s so nice to know you’re receiving them. Thank you – whether you read every line, scan through, or dip in now and again whenever a particular subject line sparks your interest, it’s all appreciated.
This coming week marks twenty-one weeks since I started sharing my words on here, and knowing there’s a supportive audience reading has helped me make this a sustainable habit. Here’s my diary entry from what I can now refer to as ‘the early days’.
It reads:
Wednesday 31st January 2024, bedtime
Sleepy. But I have worked on another Substack post, and it’s ready to send. It’s changed a lot since its first draft, so I’m pleased that I not only gave it some breathing time but remembered to come back to it and edit it in good time too. And it’s ready to post tomorrow – the day I intended to get it out into the world. An achievement.* Now I ‘just’
have towant to keep it up – posting weekly – for the rest of this year and beyond.*especially in a busy day, and a busy work week.
And look! Proof that I practice what I preach: I followed my own editing advice, the same top tip I shared in my post last week.
Of course, being full of pride about this Substacking streak could well tempt fate into booting me off the habit horse. Plus, each of the next three weeks brings plenty of reasons for ‘no time to write’. A wedding! A funeral! Another bookfair!1 But then again, as I always think: More life-ing? Better get writing.
