I was watching Gardeners’ World yesterday evening (big Bank Holiday Friday night in our household, eh?). It was broadcast live from the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, which has been running all this week.
Twice the word ‘floriferous’ was used. It’s an adjective meaning bearing flowers or blooming abundantly.
As it’ll be the late spring Bank Holiday here in the UK, a time when gardens and green spaces are arguably at their most floral, I thought it seemed a wonderful word to share today. I’m planning to use it in every conversation I have over the weekend.
I hope you have a happy weekend ahead, filled with floriferousness (an even better word!).
…
To illustrate this post, I searched my photos for ‘floriferous’, expecting to find a gorgeous garden to share with you, but the first photo the search showed up was this: a floriferous risotto pack my sister Eva brought back for me from a residency in Milan. Deliciously floriferous.
